Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) Professional Development Courses for K-6 Teachers with Complete Tuition Coverage!

Register for one of three engaging, hands-on, hybrid NGSS courses for elementary teachers. The unique hybrid online/in person format of these courses is designed to free up your summer schedule! Each course invites you to dive into a variety of Disciplinary Core Ideas through the lenses of the Crosscutting Concepts, while actively engaging with your peers in the NGSS Science Practices.  Also included in each course: Training in the ELPA21 Task Analysis Tool, which you can then use in your own practice to argue for the importance of science in the elementary classroom.

Change Over Time

Why are there so many different plants and animals? What causes waves? How do the continents move? Answer these questions and gain a deeper conceptual understanding of the knowledge and skills in science needed to effectively teach the elementary level NGSS. Apply and extend your learning of the science with an emphasis on the higher order cognitive skills, scientific and engineering practices, and cross cutting ideas embedded in the disciplinary core idea learning progressions defined in the new standards. Focus on the disciplinary core ideas of waves, electromagnetic radiation, plate tectonics, and evolution.

Energy & Matter

What do we mean by pushes and pulls? Why do some things dissolve and others don’t? Where did those bubbles come from when I mix baking soda and vinegar? Answer these questions and gain a deeper conceptual understanding of the knowledge and skills in science needed to effectively teach the elementary level NGSS. Apply and extend your learning of the science with an emphasis on the higher order cognitive skills, scientific and engineering practices, and cross cutting ideas embedded in the disciplinary core idea learning progressions defined in the new standards. Focus on the disciplinary core ideas of Energy and Matter in physical, life and earth science.

How does the sun affect weather? What are natural hazards and how do we live with them? How do people affect ecosystems? Answer these questions and gain a deeper conceptual understanding of the knowledge and skills in science needed to effectively teach the elementary level NGSS. Apply and extend your learning of the science with an emphasis on the higher order cognitive skills, scientific and engineering practices, and cross cutting ideas embedded in the disciplinary core idea learning progressions defined in the new standards. Focus on the disciplinary core ideas of interactions within solar, earth and ecosystems.
