Oregon CTE Efforts Featured on PBS Newshour

Timely Recognition Follows CTE-STEM Focus at 13th Leadership Summit

On January 3 the PBS Newshour shined a spotlight on the Sherwood High School Fab Lab and Oregon’s stepped-up support for CTE and STEM education. Through the Fab Lab and related offerings Sherwood is a leader in preparing students for well paying front-line jobs in advanced manufacturing, metals, health care, and other skilled fields.
As underscored by Governor Kate Brown and breakout session panelists at the Oregon Leadership Summit on December 14, CTE and STEM education are vitally important to the job prospects of Oregonians and the talent needs of Oregon employers. Some 30,000 new job openings requiring CTE- and STEM-related skills are projected in the next 10 years.
Boosting CTE and STEM education calls for more connections and partnerships between educators and employers. For more on that, and how you can get involved, go to Oregon Connections.
